Season Opener Recap
What a way to kick off the 2025 season!
Despite tough rainy conditions, the fish were still biting — and some serious bags hit the scales. New club members, you literally got your feet wet on this one.
🏆 Mickey Soler made a huge statement, dominating the field with an impressive 17.82-pound bag to take first place!
His performance under challenging weather conditions showed true skill, grit, and determination. A bag like that sets the tone for the entire season — and everyone is officially on notice!
🥈 Dave Gontarz battled through the rough weather and locked down second place with a strong 11.37 pounds.
🥉 Marc Lampkin stayed right in the hunt, taking third place with a close 11.22 pounds.
🎣 Ben DelVecchia brought in the Lunker of the tournament, weighing in a beautiful 4.71-pound smallmouth.
Even with the inclement weather, our anglers proved that when the going gets tough, the tough get bit.

What. A. Day.
Highland Lake delivered the action, and our anglers brought the heat!
🏆 Jim Young dominated the leaderboard with a monster 15.41 lb bag, locking in 1st place and taking home the lunker of the day with a beastly 5.37 lb bass!
🥈 Mickey Soler wasn’t far behind, weighing in a rock-solid 14.00 lbs for 2nd place—showing once again why he's always a threat.
🥉 Dave Gontarz kept the pressure on with a strong 10.81 lb bag, rounding out the top 3.
The fish were fired up and so were the crews—everyone was dialed in and getting it done out there.
Big bags, big energy, and even bigger momentum heading into the next one.

Another tight battle on the water this weekend!
🏆 Mickey Soler takes the win with a 10.72 lb bag.
🥈 Dave Gontarz claims second with 10.41 lbs.
🥉 John Najarian locks in third with 10.18 lbs and also lands lunker of the day — a 3.84 lb largemouth bass!

🏆 Mansfield Hollow didn’t disappoint!
Dave Gontarz brought the heat, hauling in a massive 17.70# bag to claim first place. As if that wasn’t enough, he sealed the deal with a beastly 5.30# largemouth, taking home lunker honors in style!
Not far behind, Mickey Soler stacked up a strong 14.92# to secure second place, while Ahmed Behery rounded out the top spots with 10.08#, proving it was anyone’s game on the water.

5. Lake Zoar

Lake Zoar Tournament Recap – July 2025
Marc Lampkin took home 1st place this past Saturday at Lake Zoar with an impressive 14.84 lb bag. Another strong showing from our reigning Angler of the Year!
Dave Gontarz followed closely behind, earning 2nd place with 14.06 lbs, which also included the tournament lunker — a 3.73 lb largemouth.
Ben DelVecchia rounded out the top 3, securing 3rd place with 11.97 lbs.
It was a competitive day on the water with quality fish brought to the scale. Great job to all anglers who participated!

Tournament #6 – Weekend Recap
This past weekend’s Tournament #6 delivered another exciting day on the water for the Connecticut Sweetwater Bass Club.
Results:
1st Place – Dave Gontarz: 14.38 lbs
2nd Place – Glen Tavalozzi: 10.80 lbs, earning his first-ever 5-fish limit
3rd Place – Seth Sadja: 10.02 lbs, also taking home Lunker with a 5.26 lb bass
We’d like to give a big shout-out to our new members, Seth Sadja and Mark Krodel — welcome to the club! Great to see both of you out on the water and competing.
Congratulations to all anglers on a great event, and thank you for making our tournaments such a fun and competitive experience.
