Officer Updates:
Last Club meeting before the start of the season.
Only two tournaments have been approved so far:
April 26 @ Lake Lillinonah
May 17 @ Highland Lake
All other proposed tournaments have been submitted.
The club website is up to date.
We will be using the Weighfish app to collect tournament weigh-ins via the club’s new tablet. Contact Us | Weighfish or visit our club site under tournaments and click the FULL RESULTS tab with link to Weighfish.
Financial report is current, and all active club members have paid their dues.
We are still waiting on a few members to pay their tournament fees. Fees must be submitted prior to the first tournament. Tournament fees for all tournaments are paid upfront for all, whether fishing a specific tournament or not.
Group Discussions & Decisions:
Starting 2025, there will no longer be team and/or boat points.
The new point system will be:
1st Place = 100 points
2nd Place = 98 points
3rd Place = 96 points, and so on (2-point increments).
CT BASS Nation membership should be leveraged for discounts on sponsor products.
A meeting will be held prior to our last 2025 tournament to determine the 2026 tournament schedule.
Club Bylaws are outdated. Officers will review and propose updates to be shared with the club before finalizing.
There is a new DEEP rep handling tournament approvals, and this has brought challenges. Members are asked to be patient as we adjust.
Assisting Boaters in Distress – Important Reminder
In the state of Connecticut, boaters are legally required to assist other boaters in distress—unless doing so would endanger their own vessel or passengers, or another vessel is already providing assistance.
🔹 What is “distress”?
While the term distress can be interpreted broadly, in the boating world it specifically refers to a life-threatening situation. This could involve a capsized boat, fire, serious injury, or a vessel taking on water.
🚨 During Tournaments: Communication is Key
If you are in distress, immediately contact the Tournament Director.
If you are assisting another boater in distress, you should also notify the Tournament Director as soon as safely possible.
If your boat still has any motoring power (including trolling motor), and if the situation allows, move to a safe location before placing the distress call.
Members would like some links added to the website that include local tournament events.
Tournament Weigh-In Process Update:
Each tournament, two non-boaters will help set up the weigh-in area.
The club will also ensure the Tournament Director (Jim) can be among the first out of the water to help run weigh-ins smoothly.
For April:
Weigh-In Setup Help: Ethan and Mick C.
Weigh-In Data Collection (using tablet): TJ
Tournament Participation Reminder:
All members must respond to the group text sent the Sunday prior to each tournament with an "in" or "out" reply to confirm participation.
Other Notes:
Jermaine will text out information about ordering club logoed attire.
TJ will send out the club website link and Weighfish app link to all members.
